At 21, Sagufa Begum is working as a Tele Caller at Startek Inc., earning ₹18,600 per month. For Sagufa, this job is not just a source of income. It represents confidence, dignity, and agency building. It has given her the power to make independent choices and actively support her family.
Her journey began at the Angul Lighthouse, where she enrolled in the Foundation Course after learning about it through a community mobilizer. Coming from a background of financial struggle, Sagufa lacked confidence, digital skills, and exposure to formal workplaces. She often hesitated to speak and doubted her abilities. Through communication sessions, personal and professional grooming, digital empowerment, and mock interviews, she experienced steady agency building and discovered her own potential. The Office Executive training further prepared her for the demands of the formal sector.
Sagufa belongs to a family of five from Tamrit Colony in Angul, dependent on her father’s small shop. A graduate in Arts from Angul Mahila Degree Mahavidyalaya in 2024, Sagufa now stands confident, independent, and in charge of her future.
