Dukhia Alda is a 24-year-old youth from Ward No. 15, Barbil. He grew up as the eldest son of a farming family, carrying the hopes of everyone at home. With his parents, younger brother, and wife depending on him, the pressure to earn was real. His father’s monthly income of around ₹10,000 was the only support the family had. Dukhia knew he had to do something different.
When he heard about Barbil Lighthouse through an outreach coordinator, something clicked. He visited the centre, enrolled in the FC Course (Batch 50), and gave it everything he had.
From day one, Dukhia stood out. He completed every activity on time, showed up with energy, and lifted those around him. The activity “Diamonds in My Life” touched him deeply, helping him discover his strengths and build a vision for his future. He even stepped up during the Barbil Mahotsav, supporting the Lighthouse team and showing true leadership.
Today, Dukhia works as a Helper at Karakhendra Steel Plant, earning ₹16,000 every month. He is proud, he is independent, and his family finally has the stability they always deserved.
With the support of SBI Foundation, Lighthouse Communities Foundation continues to enable youth like Dukhia to build their futures with confidence and agency.
