The Pimpri Lighthouse, a hope for underserved youth, was launched in March 2021 with the support of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and Atlas Copco. With the guidance of PCMC and the assistance of Atlas Copco, the Lighthouse has been able to make a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged groups, including transgenders and families affected by COVID-19.
In just two years, over 1,390 young people have enrolled in the program, and more than 550 have already secured employment.
On April 4th, 2023, the Pimpri Lighthouse celebrated its second anniversary with a grand event. Honorable guests, including the Deputy Commissioner of PCMC, Mr Kabir Gaikwad, the HR head at Atlas Copco, Mr. Abhijit Patil, the CSR Manager along with a few other team members attended the event.
The celebration began with a captivating video presentation highlighting the Lighthouse’s two-year journey. Five outstanding students were awarded the “Vidyarthi Gaurav” prize for completing the Foundation and Skilling Courses and going on to establish their own businesses or gain formal employment. Fashion design students also walked the ramp in self-stitched outfits, and a skit performed by the youth demonstrated the significant difference Lighthouse intervention has made in their lives. The event concluded with the Atlas Copco team touring the Lighthouse and motivating students for a bright future.
Overall, the second anniversary marked another successful year for the Pimpri Lighthouse.
