For 22-year-old Kartikeswar from Angul, every day began with a question. Would there be enough?
He grew up in a family where every rupee mattered. His father, a 63-year-old farmer, earned only about ₹3000 a month through seasonal work, while also struggling with health issues. At home, five family members depended on this uncertain income. Kartikeswar’s widowed sister returned home with her child, and his younger sister had to leave her education due to financial challenges.
After completing his Diploma in Engineering in 2025, Kartikeswar faced unemployment and rising pressure to support his family. Though qualified, he lacked confidence and direction. That is when he joined Angul Lighthouse in October 2025.
Through the activities in the Foundation course, Kartikeswar began to believe in himself. He improved his communication, learned digital skills, and overcame his fear of failure. With guidance, he chose to build a career in the technical field and enrolled in the skilling program.
In January 2026, he secured a job as an Assistant Electrician at Sai DK Engineering and Projects Pvt Ltd, earning ₹15000 per month. Today, Kartikeswar is not just earning for his family, he is building hope, stability, and a future with dignity.
