The Lighthouse Communities Foundation and the Global Opportunity Youth Network (GOYN) hosted the “Pathways to Sustainable Livelihoods” workshop on January 12, 2025, in Bhubaneswar. The event brought together stakeholders from government, industry, and civil society to explore sustainable livelihood pathways for Opportunity Youth (OY) in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Key research findings highlighted the presence of 1.56 lakh Opportunity Youth, with one in three undecided about career choices. Discussions highlighted a skills-industry mismatch and identified high-potential sectors like IT, BFSI, healthcare, tourism, renewable energy, and creative industries.
Shri Rabindra Kumar Sahu, Additional Secretary & Project Director, emphasized the importance of skill alignment, financial literacy, mental health support, and awareness of government schemes. The workshop also focused on ecosystem mapping, gender inclusion, and the role of public-private partnerships.
We look forward to collaborating with our partners to implement these insights and create meaningful employment opportunities for youth in the region.
