A young girl who got married when she was just 19 years old had never thought that she would someday start her own business!

After her marriage, Priya soon gave birth to two beautiful children. She lives in a joint family of 12 members and her husband is a private driver. He was the only earning member in the family for the longest time, and she was happy in her little world.

During Covid-19, the family income was affected badly and an idea in her mind took birth.

Priya has been associated with the Lighthouse program since 2016. Priya always spoke about creating her own identity. She wanted to earn money to provide a quality education for her children. She took help from the Youth Aid Foundation and Lighthouse communities to start her business. In 2020, she was enrolled in the Junoon program and decided to expand her micro business, “Dabba Station” where she sells a complete healthy meal in a box at a very nominal price. The Junoon Program helped her develop business and marketing strategies. The team helped her learn networking, Financials, and Communication Skills. These learnings enabled her to multiply the number of Dabbas she supplied and raised her income.

Today, she has hired two more women from her community to work with her in running the business.

Recently, she even got an opportunity to present her work at the Yesummit, organised by Youth Aid Foundation. Yesummit promotes entrepreneurs through incubation and accelerators. The winner of the Summit will be awarded the sum of Rs 25000. Priya Yadav’s courageous story impacted every person, and we are hopeful that she will come out as a winner again!

She says, “Patience and perseverance are the only keys to success,” and she is proving it every day.
