Arshada, 27, was born in a conservative family where were not allowed to step out of the house without a male family member. Her father worked in Mumbai and hardly earned enough for the family of eight.
Arshada always wanted to be an independent person. She was a bright student and always found solace in stitching and sewing dresses. To pursue her interest, she joined the Lighthouse to enhance her designing skills. She learnt costing, Social Media Marketing, Networking and several other crucial topics under the Junoon program run by Lighthouse with support from the IDFC FIRST Bank.
Arshada defied some major health issues and emerged as a winner. Since she was not allowed to go out, she started her business (@designer_arshada) from the four walls of her house!
In no time, her business flourished and she started employing other women in her community. She also got a chance to join the Centre for Youth Development and Activities (CYDA) as a trainer.
Her continued efforts are helping her manage and grow her business fast and she’s becoming a good example not only to her family but also to her community and her students.
