The Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) and Lighthouse Communities Foundation (LCF) recently celebrated the successful completion of skills training programs for youth from the Malka Ganj area. A total of 291 students completed the in-house foundational skills course, which includes 100 hours of life skills training, spoken English, and digital empowerment. Additionally, 62 students completed vocational skills courses, including Office Executive, Accounts Executive, and Assistant Beauty Therapist. The certificate distribution for these courses was attended by Dr. Amita Dev, Vice Chancellor of DSEU, and Mr. Dilip Pandey, MLA of Timarpur.

During the celebration, Dr. Amita Dev emphasized the importance of the DSEU-Lighthouse project in providing skills and livelihood opportunities for underserved youth in Delhi. Mr. Dilip Pandey also emphasized the importance of such initiatives in uplifting disadvantaged urban communities. Ms. Mamta Naidu, National Head of Skilling and Placements for LCF, shared that the organization is committed to serving 600+ youth in the Malka Ganj area by March 2023 and has been organizing placement drives and building an employer ecosystem to ensure job opportunities for graduates.

The DSEU-Lighthouse program, supported by Michael & Susan Dell Foundation offers life skills, workplace competencies, and technical skills to underserved youth, with the goal of enabling social and economic transformation for individuals and their families. Currently, there are three centers operating in Delhi in Kalkaji, Malka Ganj, and Matia Mahal, with a fourth center coming soon in Patparganj. Since March 2022, over 900 youth in Delhi have completed foundational skills training, around 500 have enrolled in vocational skills training, and around 184 have secured jobs, many of them being first-time earners. The DSEU-Lighthouse program offers courses in Nursing Care, Digital Marketing, Office Executive, Account Executive, Python, General Duty Assistant, and Graphic Designing, in addition to digital empowerment and spoken English training for all students.

Lighthouse along with DSEU has crafted this courses. You are first all taken to Khazana, it means you’re talking to your inner soul, your own concise, what are your positive points, what is the diamond you’re hiding inside you which can shape your career. Then you’re going towards the pathshala. LCF is curating so many courses. I learned that many skilling partners like NIIT foundation are coming right at your door step. This is unbelievable. A big applause to MSDF, LCF and DSEU which has decided to touch of life of youth. India has the youngest population in the world within the age group of 18-35 and if do not educate them properly, I think we will not have a developing economy. It is all because of the youth” said by Dr. Amita Dev, VC, DSEU.

Many youth among you might have enrolled into various courses at the Lighthouse. At such young age, I wasn’t as responsible or as confident as you all are. Having such confidence is very rare. The work Lighthouse Communities Foundation has put in the Malka Ganj Lighthouse is amazing. Mere words wouldn’t suffice the hard work that LCF is doing” said by Hon’ble Dilip Pande, MLS, Timarpur.
